How to train a dog to walk at least 100 miles per day
NEW YORK — New York City Transit is offering a hybrid trainer training program that is meant to train dogs to run away from people and to be able to take the subway.
The trainers wear full-body protective gear that includes helmets, leashes and a collar.
The training is meant for dogs of all breeds, including a hybrid one that was bred for agility.
The training program has been available since the spring training, and the city has trained nearly 1,200 dogs since the program began.
The hybrid trainer program is a one-year trial program that lasts up to four months and includes an assessment by the city’s canine training authority.
The city is looking to expand the program to other subway stations, as well.
