Former NFL coach Mike Holmgren to take job as NFL Commissioner

Mike Holmsren will take over as the new commissioner of the National Football League on Tuesday, according to a report.

The Associated Press reported Holmgens appointment came in a surprise announcement by President Donald Trump on Twitter.

“Mike Holms is joining the @NFL to lead the league,” Trump wrote on Monday.

“Great people.

Great people.

Good luck.

Get well soon.”

Trump had been expected to name former NFL coach Bill Parcells to the position.

Holmgren has been in the NFL since 2005 and helped run the league for four seasons.

The move comes just weeks after NFL owners voted to expand their franchises from 32 teams to 50 and also to allow teams to play in outdoor stadiums.

The NFL also is looking to build a new indoor stadium, but has yet to officially make a decision on whether to open one.
